COLUMBUS, OH — Beneath the sterile, humming lights of a national television courtroom, a battle of generations recently unfolded that stripped away the veneer of “family values” to reveal a raw, jagged edge of trauma. In the case of Talbert v. Talbert, aired on Equal Justice with Judge Eboni K. Williams, the world watched as a father attempted to use the legal system to enforce the unthinkable: suing his own 18-year-old son for the $6,000 cost of a “conversion therapy” program the boy fled.
The testimony presented wasn’t just about money; it was a documentary-style look at the fundamental right to exist. Judge Williams delivered a scorching rebuke, dismissing the father’s claim and providing a rare moment of institutional protection for a survivor escaping a practice that major medical organizations have long condemned as abusive. “He deserves a home, sir, where he is safe and loved,” Williams told the father. “It’s clear to this court that you… cannot provide that.”

COLUMBUS, OH — In the shadows of the warehouse and the heat of the festival mainstage, a silent agreement exists: the dancefloor is where the masks come off. For the LGBTQIA+ community, house music is our history, born from the Black and Brown queer underground of Chicago as a radical response to a world that tried to dim our lights. Chicago native and outspoken ally John Summit honors this legacy with his sophomore album, “CTRL ESCAPE.”
Released on April 15, 2026 (Tax Day), the record is a masterclass in allyship through action. Summit doesn’t just play the music; he actively defends the culture it came from, reclaiming the dancefloor as a space where labels don’t apply. From the deep emotional release of “SHADES OF BLUE” to the industrial “middle finger to the binary” in “SATA,” the album serves as a sonic tribute to the sanctuary of the club. Whether through his massive UNVRS Ibiza residency or unannounced grassroots pop-ups, Summit reminds us that while the “Matrix” might try to control us, the “Escape” is always found in each other.

On March 28, 2026, the silence of the Ohio Statehouse was shattered as thousands converged for the “No Kings 3” day of action, a global movement that saw millions take to the streets. In Columbus, the rally transformed into a massive occupation of the Broad and High intersections, halting the city’s machinery to create a hub of civic defiance. From ACLU legal resource booths to a massive signature drive for the Ohio Equality of Rights Under the Law Amendment, the event functioned as a “work day” for democracy. Led by a coalition of trans youth and immigrant families, the march swept through the downtown grid—from the Scioto Mile to Third Street—uniting labor unions and queer activists in a singular, statewide mandate against executive overreach.
