Resonance and Resilience: My Final Reflection on Columbus Pride 2026

Written By: Rainbow Rocks: July 1st, 2026

What a month. As the final notes of Pride Month fade and the banners from the Stonewall Columbus Pride Fest and Parade are packed away, I am left sitting with a whirlwind of emotions. To say that Columbus Pride 2026 was unforgettable would be an understatement. This year, it wasn’t just a celebration; it was a battleground, a sanctuary, and a historic testament to what it means to stand up and fight for our collective liberation.

From the very beginning, when the city skyline illuminated on June 1st under the banner “Until We’re All Free,” the energy was distinct. There was joy, absolutely—but underneath it, a profound, unshakable resolve.

Amplifying the Voices That Matter

As an independent news influencer and advocate, my mission this month was to put Columbus Pride on the map with raw, unfiltered coverage. It meant sleepless nights, endless editing, and running on pure adrenaline to ensure our community’s stories were told right.

We covered the brilliance and grace of the community, capturing everything from Drag Masters and the local energy of D Valley to the grassroots power of Southside Pride and Worthington Pride, and State Street Pride Fest. We brought you behind the scenes of vital community spaces, including the City of Columbus Council President Shannon G. Hardin Pride Fundraiser, and provided dedicated coverage of Miss Gay Pride Ohio, Doctora AJ Quinn West, whose leadership and visibility remain an absolute inspiration.

Through deep-dive community interviews with local leaders who genuinely care, a sit-down with Juicee Fruit, Malestrom West, Dallas of CGLSA, and a powerful conversation with Council President Shannon G. Harding and Former Executive Director of Stonewall Columbus: Densil Porteous, we didn’t just report on the culture—we documented history in the making.

A New Standard for Independent Media

Looking back at everything we accomplished, this was a chapter of history I never imagined would become so profoundly powerful. In an ever-changing media landscape, this month set a brand-new standard for what an independent news influencer can truly achieve when driven by passion, truth, and community. I am deeply grateful for every single opportunity I had to cover these moments, to be trusted with these stories, and to show the world the true impact of grassroots journalism.

The Line Between Celebration and Protest

The true culmination of this month came during the Stonewall Columbus Pride Fest, Parade, and subsequent protest. Pride was born out of a riot, and this year, that truth felt closer than ever.

When the time came to put bodies on the line for our rights, we didn’t back down. Standing in the face of potential arrest to demand justice and equality was a sobering reminder of the high stakes of modern advocacy. It wasn’t easy, and it was deeply exhausting, but it was the highest honor to use my platform to protect and amplify the movement. This is what resilience looks like. We refuse to be silenced, and we refuse to be pushed back into the shadows.

The Fight Ahead: Standing with Our Trans Family

We cannot look back at this month without addressing the heavy shadow cast by the recent Supreme Court decision banning trans athletes from sports. It is a devastating, targeted blow to the trans community, aiming to strip away dignity, inclusion, and basic human rights.

To our trans siblings: our thoughts, our love, and our unwavering support are with you. Your rights are non-negotiable. This devastating ruling only reinforces why we march, why we protest, and why we refuse to treat Pride as merely a party. Your struggle is our struggle, and we are interconnected in this fight until everyone is truly free.

The Resistance Continues Beyond June

Because here is the ultimate truth: Pride Month doesn’t just stop when the calendar turns to July. This fight doesn’t end when the parades are over. The struggle for our liberation is a continuous, relentless journey that carries through the rest of 2026 and far into our future.

We will continue to march, speak up, and put our dedication into action. The chant that echoed through the streets remains our rallying cry for the days, months, and years ahead:

Hey, ho! Hey, ho! Protect our rights! Hey, ho! Hey, ho! Protect our rights!

We will fight, fight, fight for our collective freedom and ensure that every single member of our beautifully diverse community is safe, seen, and protected.

The Columbus LGBTQ+ Affairs Commission will also work in Columbus to fight for our existence.

Rainbow Rocks Keeps Fighting

As Columbus Pride 2026 comes to a close, the exhaustion is real—but the determination is stronger than ever. This month proved that independent journalism and community advocacy are vital lifelines for the LGBTQIA+ movement.

The banners may come down, but the resistance doesn’t stop. Rainbow Rocks will keep fighting for our LGBTQIA+ rights, day in and day out, highlighting the truth and standing on the frontlines.

Thank you for trusting me to bring you this coverage. Keep fighting, keep loving, and keep standing up for one another. We aren’t going anywhere.
